Britney Spears Reborn??
It's been a few months since Britney's Circus Tour has started up in the U.S. but by now she's already had a small stint in Europe. Between her North American portion of the tour and the current European tour, Britney had a month off, and with that month off it seems like Spears has somehow managed to loosen up and rejuvenate herself.. to a side we haven't seen of her in a while.
Spears began her European portion of the tour on June 3rd in London, England and took the stage with full force, impressing most critics. Britney appeared with much more energy, and overall stage presence.. similar to that of her previous days touring, for example, on the Onyx Hotel Tour.
So what made Britney all the sudden 'upgrade' herself to a new and improved version?
Right now, in her life, it seems like everything is going smooth for once. Britney's kids are happy, the situation with Kevin Federline is calm and running well, and it now appears that Britney has a new love interest in that of her agent, Jason Trawick. Also, a bit more rehearsing combined with the already mentioned things going on in her life, and Britney appears to be back on track as the Pop Icon she used to be. So am I going back on my word about her being the 'Britney Spears we used to love'.. not quite, but she's definitely heading in that direction. We can only hope that she makes it there, and continues to live happily.. (and maybe even sings a few of her songs live every now and then).
Stop H8ing
It's been quite a while since California's refuted the ability for gay and lesbian people to be given equal marriage rights, and recently after it was brought back to attention, proposition 8 was once again passed.
Not only do I find this absurd, but it brings back thoughts of past times in human history where women and african americans weren't given the right to vote. We're talking about equality here people, and everyone deserves a fair chance at life. Everyone, whether they're gay, straight, bisexual, etc. deserve to have the chance to get married to the person they love, under any circumstance. For something like proposition 8 to keep getting passed is completely inappropriate and unfair to society.
Hopefully in the near future, this will be addressed again.. and gay and lesbian people WILL have the right to get married in California. Love is what makes the world go 'round.. so expressing it however you want should not be an issue whatsoever.
If U Seek Scandal..
It's been weeks and weeks since Britney Spears' last single 'If U Seek Amy' has been released to the radio, tv, and internet, and there has been quite the media controversy spectacle resulting from it.
The double entendre meaning behind the song has brushed across many parents and even some fans as being completely inappropriate for Britney's younger fans..
I have a question for these parents that are upset about the song. Since when has Britney Spears been someone that your child should 'look up to'?? With past songs like 'Get Naked', 'Breathe on Me', 'Touch of My Hand', etc. Britney has proven to be an artist directed towards a more mature, older audience.. It's not her fault if younger fans listen as well. So towards those parents that are 'outraged' by Miss Spears' single.. maybe you should address your own child before attacking Britney. You're the parent, therefore you should have the responsibility of displaying to your children what is appropriate, and not appropriate for their age.. Don't leave it up to Britney Spears herself to only make music that is 'appropriate for everyone'.. There is such thing as freedom of speech, and it just so happens that artists in the pop music industry happen to use it as well. Deal with it.
As a result of these complaints, the majority of radio stations cannot play the original song, but instead forced Spears to re-record the song with the lyrics 'If U See Amy'.
Regardless, Britney has always been an artist, like Madonna, that pushes boundaries.. and she definitely did so with 'If U Seek Amy', and luckily for Spears it was a hit single as well.

The Black Eyed Peas Steal the Show
Last night on the American Idol Finale Results Show, the Black Eyed Peas including Fergie performed their mega hit 'Boom Boom Pow' in front of thousands in attendance.. and they definitely didn't disappoint.
From the dancers in unique attire to all 4 performers giving it their all, the Black Eyed Peas showed that they're back.. and here to stay. Not only is the song catchy, but the energy they displayed in their performance last night only makes fans like myself more excited for the new album, 'The End', that comes out on June 9th.
All I can say is, if there are more hits on 'The End' like 'Boom Boom Pow', it is definnitely going to be an album fans should not miss out on..

Adam Lambert vs. Kris Allen. Who Will Be The American Idol??
Tonight two great entertainers will face off against one another to ultimately decide the winner of this season's American Idol. The two final contestants remaining and participating in the finale are Kris Allen, the soft spoken and humble contestant who has been the underdog all along, and Adam Lambert, the favourite since the beginning.
Throughout the competition thus far, both have proved to display a wide range of styles and singing range, but only one can win the competition, so one must wonder.. Who is more likely to win tonight?
If any random fan of American Idol were asked this question, the answer would probably be Adam Lambert. His style, his voice, and nearly everything about him draw people in to watch him, and for these reasons he's become the top pick to win the title of American Idol. However, that doesn't mean Kris Allen's chances should be tossed aside just yet..
Kris, while being the underdog, has also gained a lot of support this season not only by his marketable look and voice, but also his extremely likeable personality. Allen has also been able to take a song choice and turn it into something completely original and unique, for example, his performance of 'Heartless' by Kanye West. Will this be enough to win him the title of American Idol though? Has he made enough of an impact on the target audience to influence them to pick him as their winner, and not Adam Lambert? While he shouldn't be counted out beforehand, the chances of Kris Allen winning tomorrow night are quite slim.
Kris' opponent and fellow contestant, Adam Lambert, has everything needed to be successful in the industry. However, some of his critics might complain that he comes across 'screechy' in his performances. Regardless, he has still managed to create a massive fan base that not only support him for his performances, but a fan base that supports him for his personal life as well..
While it is only speculation and not been proven to be true whatsoever, Lambert's sexuality has been a huge question the entire season. His sexuality has probably been quite a huge factor in his success so far, as some have described the situation as being the 'Obama Effect', where the first black president was elected.. now the first homosexual American Idol can be elected as well.
With that said, tonight should prove to be quite the show as two superstars in the making put everything they've got on the line to win it all. Will the underdog take it or the odds-on favourite take the title he's been predicted to take for quite some time. If Lambert does in fact win the title, a large step towards further improving gay rights could potentially result. It's unfortunate that it would take an 'alleged' and not proven homosexual to win a singing competition to give the gay community equal rights.. but in this day and age, it's reality.
Good luck to both Lambert and Allen, and may the best man win!
Lady Gaga, the New Pop Princess??
Lady Gaga hasn't even been on the scene for that long, and she's already made quite the impact on the music industry, and society itself. She's been a very unique addition to the collection of celebrities known as 'pop stars'. With her very dramatic look, distinguishable voice, and edgy performances, she has the combination to be successful in the business, but what are the setbacks?
Haters. People who deny her talent and capability as an artist, and claim her to be nothing more than a 'one hit wonder' with a weird haircut and hideous collection of costumes and attire. These people, while they may provide some sort of impact on her as a whole, will always be there regardless of her continued success. Therefore they, like haters of any other pop star, will continue to try to bring their target down. Sometimes these haters succeed, and sometimes they fail. This time, regardless of their efforts.. the chances of their success are very slim.
Lady Gaga is one of the most original things to come out in the past year or so, and with her lethal combination of a futuristic fashion look, strong vocals, and dramatic performances, she will continue to succeed in the industry. She's already managed to get to the point where some individuals, such as Perez Hilton, have given her enough credit to name her the new 'Princess of Pop', dethroning Britney Spears of her status. Some people will agree and some people will disagree, but one must question the reasoning of this clear depiction of Lady Gaga as a 'Next Big Thing' in the industry.
While the specific reasons from these individuals aren't known, after watching a few of Gaga's performances, one can come to their own conclusions..
Her stage presence is incredible and the girl actually sings live while performing. While this usually would be expected, it's known that many pop stars do not sing live, and rely on backing tracks while they 'sing along'. Gaga has even expressed that she refuses to do anything other than sing live during any and all of her performances. If you're at the top, you better have good reason to be shouldn't you?
Aside from her look and her voice, the music, which she cowrites, is a great example of what pop music is today, and the direction it is heading in the future.
So honestly, there isn't much negative to credit Lady Gaga for. She has it all going for her.. and like some say, she is the new 'Princess of Pop'..
Is the Britney Spears We Came to Know and Love Really Back??
It's been approximately 2 and a half months since Britney Spears' new tour, "The Circus Tour: Starring Britney Spears" has started up. It's not a huge surprise that tickets have sold out for every single show, but many fans and myself have been curious from the start of the shows if Britney Spears is really back to her 'A-game'.
Britney Spears emerges onto the eyes of thousands in attendance as Perez Hilton exclaims to the audience "Welcome.. to the Circus!". Britney is lowered from the ceiling on a platform, as she his dressed in ringleader attire, with full head-piece and whip in hand. The look on her face is not one of confidence, but one of angst.. This was the first show in 5 years that Britney has performed on tour, could she pull it off? Many people were doubting it.
"I feel the adrenaline runnin' through my veins..", is part of the lyrics to Britney's song 'Circus', but do you actually feel it, Britney? Compared to shows earlier in her career, Britney appeared less energetic, happy, and overall she appeared less excited. She most certainly appeared more coherent and together with her dance moves and lip synching than at the infamous 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, but there was still something lacking.
Throughout the night, Britney and her many dancers and circus performers entertained the crowd. The show itself is one that is absolutely fantastic, but the headliner, Britney Spears, could be described as a little bit less than fantastic..
Is Britney Spears back to being the entertainer and pop princess she once was? No. However, she is back to being a performer that sells out venues of 20,000 + crowds. She still has the look, she may still have the voice, we wouldn't know because she lip synchs the entire concert, and she still somewhat has the dance moves. Therefore, to conclude this, Britney Spears won't be going anywhere anytime soon. She has all the necessary traits to be successful in the music industry today and she'll continue to make chart-topping music throughout the years to come.. However, the chance that she'll ever regain that Pop-icon status she once had appears to be slim.
"Call my cell to chat.."
No, i'm not giving everyone my cell phone number for them to call and chat with me.. but Spencer Pratt is. Being a member on Twitter gives you quite a few perks. You get to connect with a whole bunch of people and you also get to view little messages from all of our favourite 'celebrities'. Well, one 'celeb' has taken advantage of Twitter and advertising his own cell phone number for anyone.. and i mean ANYONE to contact him and chat. Now obviously Spencer and Heidi Pratt aren't the most famous celebrities out there.. 'cause honestly.. they're famous.. for being famous.. I think. In my honest opinion.. these two are glorified famewhores. However, they're actually pretty smart famewhores. The whole 'ethical issue' comes into play when you give out your cell phone number just to increase your popularity and celebrity-status.. But is it really worth it? In the eyes of many, that looks EXTREMELY desperate for attention, and turns them off right away. There still is however, tons of people who will call.. and who do want to talk to Heidi and Spencer.. And like they say.. any press is good press. Fortunately for Heidi and Spencer, I think this cell phone ordeal is going to get them what they want, that being attention. So props to the two of them.. not a lot of people like them, they're constantly criticized and ridiculed, but they continue to thrive in the Hollywood scene. They either have REALLY thick skins and truly believe they have talent, or are playing along with this big 'joke' that people make them out to be.. and capitalizing on it..
